Cloth Diapering

Daycare WIN!

So, in our area, no DC will do CDs. They all claim it's against Health Dept regulations. After attending a natural parenting convention this weekend, I found out that one of my top DC contenders DOES do cloth. I went by today toput my deposit down...that was the clincher for me. While I was there, I asked about their CD regulations. They said they just need 2 pail liners (she'll have her very own pail with her name on it for dipes) and the disposable liners because they are supposed to limit the amount of waste that goes into the pails. Makes it a little nicer because I won't have as much poop coming home with me. I asked if the want AIOs, pockets, aplix?? Anything specific? NOPE!! They're totally cool using my prefolds and covers! That's awesome. I was really expecting having to build a DC stash of pockets, this saves me a lot of $! I'll probably start getting some pockets anyways, but it's nice to know I don't have to stash up by August. I'm just so psyched now about DC!!

  • That is awesome. I definitely felt better about DC when they said they would do whatever we wanted for diapers.

One thing to consider if you use prefolds... DC near us all said that they had to change the entire diaper. If we wanted to do prefolds, that was fine, but they needed a new cover with each change. This is still cheaper than pockets, but you'll need a lot of covers if they want to do it this way.

  • That is wonderful!  Very exciting that it is one of your top contenders too!  It's great that they are willing to work with your prefolds.

I'll definitely have to check on the covers thing. More covers is definitely cheaper than pockets, but if that's the case, I'll have to stock up on some covers.

If you can sew, they're pretty easy (and cheap) to make with fold over elastic and PUL.  I made a lot of newborn covers and I'm a below-average sewer!
