Success after IF

Getting ready for one last hurrah - Injectables/IUI cycle..

Found out last night horrible insurance company my employer switched to in Jan covers ZERO for meds - so was thinking last night this was all over before it even began.  IUI cycle will cost at least three thousand OOP and meds were coming in at another three thousand.  But as of today - with the help of a VERY kind mommy from this board - and lower cost pricing through Freedom Pharmacy - now it's looking more like 1000 OOP for meds - which compared to three thousand quote from last night - seems like a veritable bargain.

I was very upset last night thinking that my last chance - a chance it took me a long time to decide to go ahead with - might be taken away from me due to finances.  Come what may at the end of the cycle - I just want to try - one more time.

Just had RE's nurse go ahead and place order with Freedom - and if all goes as planned -  my day 3 bloodwork should take place sometime next week - and we'll go from there.  This is the hail mary attempt - we will not continue actively TTC past this. I need to not be in limbo anymore - and know if we're going to be a one child family - or have another child.   I'll be 41 on May 12 .. right around when IUI should be taking place.  Let's hope I get KU for my birthday this year (and mother's day, right?  day after!)

I am ready to get going and DO THIS - and see where we are - one way or another.  By the end of May - I should know.

Wheee!

Our IF journey: 1 m/c, 1 IVF with only 3 eggs retrieved yielding Dylan and a lost twin, 1 shocker unmedicated BFP resulting in Jace, 3 more unmedicated pregnancies ending in more losses.
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.
  • Wow, Lucy, I hear the roller coaster feeling in your voice.  I am very excited for you - not so much at the prospect of having another child - but more at the propsect of 'knowing'.  To me that is such a milestone.  Good luck and keep us posted as you journey forward.
  • Good luck!  I hate the not knowing part. We have one shot at TTC # 3 and have delayed it until January. I just want to know either way. I hope it works out for you!

  • Good luck!  I understand the being in limbo part, too.  We went off of BC after DD turned 1 year just to see what happened - no active trying, just seeing what happened.  But it is impossible not to try...I feel like my life since 2006 has either been tracking my cycles to TTC or being pg and BFing.  We did get lucky in the fall, but had a m/c, and just got another bfp at the beginning of the month.  Whether this current pg works out or not, we are done.  I am done with the wondering, guessing, roller coaster every month.

I hope that your cycle works out great for you!!

  • Good luck!!  As a fellow 40+, I'm really rooting for you!  My only advice is just take it easy for this whole cycle.  Get lots of rest.  That's what I tried to do with the cycle when I got a BFP with DS2 and it seemed to help.  Us old gals have to give our bodies a little extra support!  Wink

  • I am right there with you. I am about to start my third and last inject/IUI cycle. The only way we were able to do it is because of a meds donation from an amazing bumpie friend.

After this we will stop trying also. Are you going to do anything to avoid? I've been fighting with that for awhile. I had a break month and have done really well not thinking about it. But, now that it's the last few days of my cycle I'm starting to go crazy again. I don't know if I'll ever be able to fully relax without some intervention.

    Good luck! Here goes nothing!

Conceived DD after 15 cycles--- TTC #2 since 11/10---Me- Poor egg quality and supply---DH- Poor count and motility---2 rounds 75IU Follistim/IUI-BFN---5/12 150IU Follistim/IUI-Over-produced! Converted to IVF! 0 fertilized:( Rescue ICSI performed. 2 embryos transfered-BFN
