I had my repeat HSG today (to clarify, my last HSG was done during my lap and the x-ray was not used...my GYN just watched through the scope to see if the dye came out of the tubes. Her report was that no dye spilled out of either tube.) My RE wanted to repeat the HSG to see for himself my anatomy. Well...my left tube was completely open. The right tube was slower to fill. Then the dye from the left side got in the way of the right tube...so he thinks the right tube is either a) open or b) has a huge hydrosalpinx. He and his peers are leaning greatly towards the first.
We were baffled, as was our RE. All three of us thought we were on the short road to IVF. But, now we are headed toward IUI. RE did an ultrasound to see if I had any signs of ovulation approaching. We will do OPKs and TI this cycle (plus prometrium). If pregnancy is not achieved, then we will do IUI with Femera, Gonal-F inj, and prometrium. Sound right?

Re: HSG results = SHOCKER....Talk to me about IUI
Sounds right...
I had a clear HSG. Started on an unsupported IUI cycle, then we found out that I wasn't ovultaing strongly enough, so did clomid supported cycles. We outran the usefulness of Clomid (Diminishing returns) so we are in the midst of a Gonal-F cycle right now.

Just learned from CCRM that If you do have a hydrosalpinx, it can reduce your chances of implantation for IUI or IVF. It can keep toxic fluid in the uterus and hurt the embryo.
