Okay, I have a fear, but not an irrational one. I'm going to be a bit of a Debbie Downer and tell my story though: My baby-sitter when I was a kid had a son who was around 19 or 20. This happened in 1989, so we're going back awhile. Anyway, there were some really bad storms one night, and the power went out. Back then, we all had corded phones so the phones worked without electricity. We get a call around 2 am from my frantic baby-sitter asking my dad to come over ASAP to help because their son had been struck by lightening through the phone. He apparently was talking during the storm, and the lightening struck right through the cord. He was in a coma for a few days and then passed away. I was around 7 at the time, and have been terrified ever since. All my friends would say that the phone/lightening thing was an old wives tale, but it definitely was not, at least with corded phones.
I like them the most if I can go to bed. Nothing better than a stormy night snuggled in bed!
hey I'm all for the snuggling and DH and I were sharing a bed.. But as op would know... We've had some the last week and I've been terrified! They keep me up and I just hope they don't wake up DD.. So much for snuggly lol
I use to like them. Then I moved in with a dog who is terrified of them and whines really loudly. Add to that a baby who wakes up when the dog whines and yeah, i don't like them anymore.
Re: CP-Thunderstorms
I hate them, we have lots of windows too so I have no place to hide, besides the basement. I hide under the blankets, no lie, they scare me so bad.
