I just transferred to a birth center specifically because I want a water birth. At my first appointment today, I saw the NP rather than the CNM (typical for the first appointment there) and at the end of the appointment I asked if everything looked good to continue with a water birth. She said yes, and that the only thing that concerned her was my pre-pregnancy weight (242) but then commented that I look healthy and don't appear over weight, so she'd have to check on it.
Now of course I'm worried that I won't be able to have my water birth..but my question really is why? Does anyone know what pre-pregnancy weight has to do with it? Thanks in advance!
Re: Plus Size Water Birth?
Weird. I have no idea.
FWIW, I'm on the plump side and I had a successful waterbirth.
It should have nothing to do with it as long as you are not high risk.
I was 215 PP with both pregnancies and had two very successful waterbirths...and there was never a question it would be an issue with my MWs.
