Crying in sleep

Last night my son was crying in his sleep. We checked and he was sleeping. He's been making crying noises during his naps today also. He seems fine when he's awake. Does anyone else's baby do this? He does this from time to time just not this much.

    My ds will whine or whimper in his sleep occasionally but not a cry.

    My daughter does this too!  Sometimes for a minute or so. Full on crying  I am not sure why causes her to this.  I would be interested in seeing what others say.

    This. K also laughs a little in his sleep, but hasn't while awake yet.

    DD used to do this all the time. So much so that I was convinced she had to be awake because it was so loud/long. 

    Oddly enough it hasn't happened in a month or so.

    My DD does it, too. Sometimes very loud! I think that's just another weird thing babies do :)

    My girls are very noisy sleepers - and cry they do.  I wonder what makes them want to cry in their sleep.  It sort of makes me sad.  Except when they are awake, they are chipper little girls.

    DS whimpers and chuckles, a couple of times he has full out screamed and opened his eyes... only for me to come running in and then he takes one look at me and goes back out.
