I work for a divisional office of a major retailer (hint red star) , and apparently the main HQ makes TYCTW day a big to do with lots of activities for the kids and their parents. But for our division there isn't anything being done... Boo!
I realize ,obviously ,that CC is way to young to even understand the concept of Mommy's job, but for others who have older children I think this could be so beneficial ...
For so many households working outside the home is the norm and I think it gives kids a look into what Mommy ( and Daddy) does all day as part of how they provide all the necessities like food and shelter but also the fun things like toys and trips.
Does your employer recognize this day?
Do they have any activities to encourage your participation in this day ?
If your employer doesn't recognize this day, would you want them to?
What are your thoughts on the intention of the day ?
Re: Tomorrow is Take your child to work day...
I wish that we could but I work as a probation officer for teenagers and with confidentiality, it's not possible. DH is a police officer. He's had college students do ride alongs, but it would be a big no no with a child, lol. Although our daughter would love it!! Overall, I think it's a great idea. My husband has two teenage children and I'd LOVE to show them what sort of adult responsibilites we handle at work.
my employer does not. heck, they dont recognize much of anything. Also -- there arent many people here with young kids. Actually, I think I am the only one. My boss has recently adopted his granddaughter, so that is 2 kids.
I remember going a lot with my dad -- he worked for the phone company -- he did a lot of work outside and during that time we werent able to go with him but when he tried his hand at a foreman job (think more admin) we would go. It was fun!
there were no structured activities though.
