DD finally got to wear her moccasins! She is so stinking cute in them. She is half Native American, and her grandma gave these to her.(she didn't make these but she does do bead work) . Has anyone else done something to celebrate LO's heritage?
The only way we've "celebrated" our heritage is by having DD get a tiny sunburn. We're Irish and Scottish and she has inherited our super sensitive skin. Sigh...
My LO wears Uggs and hoodies because her daddy is a surfer. That doesn't count, huh? Although, if you ask my H about his cultural heritage he will tell you that, yes, he is technically Greek, but he most identifies with surf culture.

Brit, I had the same quandary. While thinking about how to respond to the OP, I was like "does being a traveler/wander count as a culture?" Everyone identifies us as sailors so LO has been given every vaguely nautical piece of clothing produced by Old Navy, Target and Carters in the past 6 months.
Have you seen the Naartjie line of kids clothing? Lots of SA surf culture inspired tees in their spring line up. I'm struggling with waiting for it to go on sale.

Yes! There is a Naartjie store near me! SO stinking cute! :-)
And I say that sailing counts as a culture in the same way that surfing does. There is a whole lifestyle, lingo, way of dress that go along with it.
That is awesome! I am 1/4 Passamaquoddy (My paternal grandmother was Passamaquoddy). She made me some leather mocassins when I was little. The beadwork was awesome, and I wore them a lot. I wish I still had them, but I was a little kiddo at the time and didn't understand keeping things.
Sadly I lost touch with her when my parents divorced (I was 9). Now she has passed on, so my little girls will not get to have real mocassins. But I will always remember the ones my Grammy made me.
Does it count that DD picture in my siggy was taken on her 100th day? It's a Korean tradition to have pictures taken on a baby's 100th since birth...DD is 1/4 Korean.
