  • Temporal therm are really nice but make sure you also get a rectal one. That is the most accurate temp you will get and chances are if you call your Dr saying your baby is sick they will most likely ask you to check a rectal temp.

  • 1. We used Fisher Price Lights & Sounds monitor for DS until he was almost 2, then I decided I wanted a video monitor, & we have a Summer one (can't remember the exact model).  I would recommend both & honestly don't think you'll miss the video aspect until they're older; when DS started to move in there I wanted to see what he was up to.

    2. I LOVE Graco's Sweetpeace swing.

    3. Like a pp suggested, I would go with a TA scanner & a traditional thermometer that can take a rectal temp.  We have both, not sure of the brands.

     4. I highly recommend Petunia Pickle Bottom's boxy backpack.  I've gotten so much mileage out of mine & it looks great even after 2 years!  HTH!

  • 1. Baby Monitor - we don't have one

    2. Swing - we LOVE our FP Snugabunny swing

    3. Thermometer - we have a couple Vicks ones, no complaints here, but DD doesn't get sick often so it hasn't been a big deal for us

    4. Diaper Bag - Skip Hop Studio tote, love it!

  • For baby monitor, I really wanted a video one and just ordered this yesterday: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004VL2VRY/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i01

I had actually registered and received a Summer Infant Secure monitor but read the reviews and they were terrible. The motorola was about $20 more expensive, but had much better reviews.

Thats the monitor we are most likely going to order as well...I am basing it solely on user reviews but it seems like a great buy!

  • 1. Baby Monitor - We have the Angel Care monitor and love it.  It's still going strong 2 years later.  I think I'm going to get the video version for this baby.

    2. Swing(really thinking I'm gonng go with fisher price cradle swing??) -  We have the FP Little Lamb swing and DD LOVED it.  It was a lifesaver for me.  I probably wouldn't have gotten any sleep without it.  I'm hoping this baby loves it as much.

    3. Thermometer( been looking at exorgen temporal therm.??) - We have a exorgen temporal thermom that we got from Costco.  I can't remember the brand, but it works great.  I've never had to take DD's temp rectally.

    4. Diaper Bag - I have the Petunia Pickle Bottom boxy backpack and it's held up nicely and holds a lot.

  • 2.  My dd hated the swing!  Got much better use from Boppy vibrating bouncer seat :) I took it from room to room w/ me and even put her in it while I showered so I could keep an eye on her

  • 1. Received an Angel Care Video, Sound and Movement Monitor from my brother in law, this not only works just like the others (showing room temp etc) but you can actually see your baby! Also included is the movement monitor which you place under the mattress. If baby stops breathing an alarm sounds off. How cool is that?

    2.  Some babies don't like the swings, maybe consider the bouncy seats rather, they are cheaper too

    3. Haven't got one yet Embarrassed

    4. Anyone that looks pretty! They are all more or less the same, but get more than one!

  • 1. Baby Monitor: We registered for the Dropcam. My boss has it and is obsessed with it. It will transmit the stream to an iPhone or iPad so other people can watch it (with a password).  If we get it (my boss hinted he might get it for us), we'll give the password to our parents so they can watch the baby.

    2. Swing(really thinking I'm gonng go with fisher price cradle swing??): Grabbed one at a garage sale.  $10, and it works great.  I figure if the baby doesn't like the swing, we're not much!

    3. Thermometer( been looking at exorgen temporal therm.??): My parents picked one out for us-we're not too concerned about this.

    4. Diaper Bag: I have the Serena and Lily Gypsy Tote.  I had one that I just used as a messenger bag for years and it was fabulous.  I got another one for the diaper bag, as I had worn through my first, so I'm already use to it.  It's not HUGE, but I think that's better as it doesn't feel like I'm lugging around a lot.

    1. I kind of wish I would have bought a video monitor. Not really for the baby stage but it would be nice to see what my toddler is up to when she is destroying her room in the guise of a nap.

    2. It really depends on the baby. I actually think a small, travel size swing is a better option than the larger ones. Especially if you have a limited amount of space in your house.

    3. Rectal is definitely best for young babies and toddlers.

    4. Don't go cheap. I had a cheap diaper bag for my first and I really hated it. It did not hold up well and I ended up having to buy a second one after like 6 months. I've heard great things about the SkipHop bags (I just bought one and LOVE it) and I don't think are priced too high for a quality bag.

We have the 3.5" one and I LOVE IT!  I had a Fisher Price one before that I had issues with, but the Motorola is awesome.  The picture is totally clear and the one I have has 2 cameras so each kiddo will have their own.  Mine also has a panning feature, which I highly recommend since I can move the camera to every nook and cranny of DS's crib.

I also have an Angelcare monitor which we will use once she moves to the crib from the rock n play, and will use that as well until she is old enough to roll out of the sensor zone.

As for diaper bags, I have several and my go to bag is the JuJuBe Be All.  I just bought a Petunia Pickle Bottom Weekender off Babysteals today, so we'll see if that will hold everything that I need for two little ones in diapers.
