3-6 month clothes short sleeves?

We received quite a few short sleeved onesies and outfits sized 3-6 months. I'm wondering if we should exchange these since 3-6 months after birth will be fall/start of winter so wouldn't we want long sleeves?  This is assuming we have an average size baby girl.  Some people even got us tank top jumpers in 9 months...  I'm not thinking about this wrong, am I??

  • I would hang on to them. You never know how big your baby will be or how fast they'll grow. If you just keep the tags on them, you can always exchange them after LO is born and you have more of an idea on what you'll need!

I am a FTM so i don't have actualy experience, but based on what I have been told by friends and family you may want to hold on to some. I know at Carter's their 3 month clothes have a weight range of 8- 12.5lbs and 6 months is 12.5-16.5 lbs. So depending upon the size of your baby you may not even need newborn sizes. I know i was 9lbs 9oz at birth and my parents said i was in 0-3 or 3 mth clothing right away, and in 3-6 month clothing shortly there after. I was always moving up sizes months before the age listed on them. If you keep the tags and receipts you may be able to wait and return them later. Plus short sleeve onesies can always be worn under clothing as well.

This is my line of thinking as well.

  • I would keep them. It's highly unlikely that LO will still be wearing size 3-6 at 6 months of age. DD was out of 3-6 by 4 months old. Plus, short sleeve stuff is good all year. LO is inside most of the time, so long sleeves aren't really needed. You can always put a sweatshirt over it for outdoor use.

  • Onesies are useful under pants and sweaters/sweatshirts too. I would hold on to them.

  • I'm with everyone else. Hang on to them for the reasons they gave. Also, DD was a bigger baby (8lb 6oz) when she was born, but her growth slowed down. She was still in 9 month stuff when she turned one.

  • DD was a big baby, and it is normally warm in my area through September and sometimes parts of October, so we have some 3-6 month short sleeve stuff.  No way would I buy 9 month short sleeved stuff for this LO though.
