Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Overnight diapers?

LO is currently wearing size 3 diapers, and they fit her well (she's not growing out of them or ready for size 4 yet).  She's a tummy sleeper now and for the past three mornings she has woken up with her belly soaked in pee.  She sleeps 11-13 hours/night, and I'm not interested in waking her up to change her diaper in the middle of the night, but I've tried three different brands of size 3s overnight all with the same result.

Should I try a size 4 for night time, or does anyone know if they make those bigger overnight diapers in size 3?  I feel like I've only seen overnight diapers in bigger sizes . . . I'm going to try and stop at target on my way home today.  Any other ideas?

Re: Overnight diapers?

  • We had this same problem with DD1, who is also a tummy sleeper. She was fine in size 3 during the day when she was changed often enough, but overnight she had outgrown their absorbency. We put her in size 4's overnight and it solved the problem. She just moved to size 4s during the day about 2 months ago, but has been in them at night for at least 8 months.

  • yes we put DS in size 4 of the Huggies Overnight diapers... they dont even come close to leaking.  They're super absorbant.
  • We have had this issue since LO was 2 months old.  I googled it and found these little pads that go in the diaper at night.  They have been a lifesaver.  He's only had 2 leaks in the past 6 months since he's been wearing these, but thats because my kid is a peeing machine. :)  I HIGHLY recommend them.  They are great!

You can get them at Babies R' Us.  For $20 they last 6 months.  I just had to reorder them yesterday.  Good Luck!

  • Thanks you guys!  I think I'm going to try the size 4 overnights first, and if that's not working, I'll check out those pads that mplesset recommended.  Fingers crossed!

  • We use Pampers overnight diapers one size up.  I go a size up for a couple of reasons - (1) they hold more, (2) they fit even when we're close to going up a size and (3) if we do go up a size in regular diapers, they'll still fit.  Since I buy Pampers, there are 80 to a box, so roughly 2.5 months worth.  If he changes size in the interim, I'm not stuck with diapers that don't fit.  I also buy Pampers as they're cheaper per diaper (though they do come in a bigger box, so more for the box) than Huggies.  That and Huggies leak like a sieve on my kid.
