One hour glucose test- Breakfast

Ladies:

Tomorrow, I'm getting my (overdue) one hour glucose test.  My doctor told me that I can eat something before the test, but to be careful not to eat anything too sugary.  Does anyone have any suggestions as to what they ate before their test?

  • I was told no starches or sugars, so I just ate bacon and eggs.

  • Honestly, I ate french toast with syrup before my test. My DD was asking for it. :)  My numbers came back really good.  My blood sugar was like 63.  My dr told me to go home and eat something.

    Good luck.

  • My doctor said I don't have to fast but she didn't say anything about avoiding sugary stuff.  I usually have cereal for breakfast so I'll probably either stick with that or have some eggs and toast.

  • I had canadian bacon.

  • I think I had a piece of whole grain toast with scrambled eggs and just water to drink.

  • My OB said to eat a protein rich breakfast, and not to eat anything 1-2 hrs before I went in to take the test.  So I ate 3 eggs for breakfast and took the test @ 1.5 hrs later....
  • I had half a PB& J on wheat bread. I passed.

  • Mine told me to eat eggs, bacon, cheese (didn't have to eat all of them) and just water. I failed by 1 pt but passed my 3 hr without any problems.

  • I was just told to avoid any extra sweets! My test won't be until 2pm so I was told to eat breakfast and lunch normally and avoid overly sweet items for the day.
  • Whatever you choose, eat it WELL before you drink your drink. Otherwise it may give you a false reading and you'll be stuck doing the three hour like I did.

  • i avoided all sugar and carbs, so i just made myself scrambled eggs with cheese at 10am, then just drank plain water until i drank the glucose drink at 1:45pm. i even avoided my gummy prenatal vitamin in the morning because i wasn't taking chances lol...i passed the test! :)
  • I fasted completely but if I was going to eat I'd probably have eggs with cheese or something like that. Best to stay away from carbs altogether, including toast.

  • I had a half of PB sandwich on wheat bread...I was just told nothing sugary and not white grains or whatever but whole wheat and whole grains were ok. I just took mine but haven't heard anything as of yet so I'm thinking no news is good news.
