TTC After a Loss

Sperm meets egg plan

I just read about this plan on another board.  I wish I would have heard about it earlier!  What are your thoughts?

image"Try" every other night starting Day 8
imageBuy 10 ovulation predictor kit sticks
imageBegin ovulation testing on Day 10
imageWhen test is positive, "try" that night, plus two additional nights in a row
imageSkip one night, then do one last "try"
imageTake a home pregnancy test 15 days after your ovulation test was positive, if your period has not begun
imageIf your ovulation test never goes positive, continue "trying" every other night until Day 35, then do a pregnancy test if your period has not begun.
imageStatistics coming in from women who write me show that about 40% of post-miscarriage women will get pregnant on the first try if they are faithful to the plan, about double the number of the normal population who are not on the plan. This assumes, of course, that you waited for a normal cycle to begin after your loss, and did not begin trying before having a period after a miscarriage. Many women do not ovulate in that first cycle.

Was going to say the same thing. It's mostly common sense to me....you've got to have sex to get pg and doing it multiple times in your FW increases your chances.

One problem with it is it tells you to FWP 2, 3, and 5 nights after getting the +OPK....since most women O on the day of or just after a +, that's kind of pointless.

Yea i think its just a safety, incase of a late Oer... and not for nothing, but arent all ttc plans, sperm meets egg plans lol

  • Haha well yes, they are! I was just very hopeful when I saw that 40% number.

Its a good plan, i know A TON of people that its worked for...  it works best for people that can use OPKs as a reliable indicator of ovulation.  If youre not ovulating, or have PCOS or some other unknown factor it wont work...

I am normally the eternal optimist but I can't help to think, if only it was that easy.

I guess I must be moody today because I am pretty sure tomorrow will be CD1.

That is exactly what I was thinking.

no plan is going to be a sure thig... but the plan is actually really smart, imo, youre not wasting your time with too much sex when its not needed....

  • This plan resulted in our first BFP, which unfortunately ended in MC.

I am charting and using OPK's so we doing a "modified" version. Since I O late, we don't start the EOD until about CD 15 or so. Then once I see a +OPK, we do ED until my temp rises. If we're not too tired out, we'll go one more time on the day of my temp spike.

We're on our third TTCAL cycle right now. Obviously we haven't gotten our second BFP yet, but we have had stellar timing each cycle. If nothing else, I am at ease knowing that we are literally doing everything we possibly can to get pg. It will also be good data to show my doc if we aren't KU in the next few months.

  • This makes a lot of sense, but for those like me who ovulate early, it would need to be started on day 6.
