Convertible carseat help

We've been planning to switch to a convertible for a while now, but we've had some trouble.  We got a Britax Marathon Classic on sale at Target and we have a Honda Civic.  When we tried to install it with LATCH, everything in the front part was fine, but the you could move the carseat up from the back end (if that makes any sense, like the back end would go up and the front would be safely latched in).  I tried looking online for help, but couldn't find a lot of info.

Does anyone have this problem (with any seat?)? I read on some sites that it creates a shell between the car seat and the seat if we were in a crash, but it just didn't seem too secure.  I don't know if that's supposed to happen or not.

Re: Convertible carseat help

  • Ours does that too a little. The tighter you get the front the less the back will move. Our fire department suggests that you shouldn't be able to move the back end side to side more than an inch if it's tight enough. Remember too that it will not move up and down once the weight of your baby is in the seat.
