Nanny Q: How much notice?

How much notice would you say is sufficient to give a part time live out nanny that DH, DS, and I will be taking a week of vacation and won't need her help that week (unpaid)? She is aware that DH and I have 3 weeks of vacation this year. We would like to take a week at the very end of May. Is a month enough notice?

I realize that many people pay their nannies even when they are out of town, but this is not the arrangement we have with our PT nanny. We don't have a process for this that we've discussed. Thank you!

  • I think letting her know now would be appropriate. That way she can line up other work for that week if needed, or maybe arrange things for her personal finances so that she can afford to take the week off too.

  • I agree with PP, I would tell her now.

  • I believe Ashley took it right. You should inform your PT Nanny about the dates you would like to be out so that she could also make arrangement for her leave.
