Hi, questions, Wesley has an abscess. I am waiting on the doctor to call me back. The u/s tech said they will probably drain it..Is that something they do in the office or does he have to be put in the hospital to do?? thanks

    Holly, I have never seen one drained on a baby, but on adults and children we just do it right in the ER.  That being said, I guess it depends on how big it is and where exactly it is.  Make sure they test him for MRSA.  I don't know if you know what that is, but it is an infection that is resistant to many antibiotics and it is the cause of most abcesses these days.  You may have heard about it on the news.  It was all over it a while back.  Let me know if I can be of any more help and good luck with it.  Let me know what happens.
