Internet search, ask on your local board, call your local LaLeche League chapter and ask a leader (LLL takes no stance on hopspital vs. home births but tends to be a group that know a ton about local resources and providers), go to the Bradley website and look up a teacher and call her.
When I asked my former midwife for a referral, she gave me this website:
www.midwife.org
it's how I found my new midwife. My insurance website is just too complicated and dumb. After I found her, I couldn't find her by name or address on my ins website.. I had to type in "CNM" and the zip code... THEN I found her. The midwife website is the best place to start.
