Hi everyone. I am part of the PGAL group, and just noticed for the first time that there is a natural birth group.
I am hoping to go natural for this birth. I have hired a Doula (and have also taken the Doula training and am working on getting certified as a Doula), but live in a part of Canada that does not have practicing midwives (the legislation passed a couple of years ago, but seems like everything is at a stand still) so I will be having a hospital birth. I intend to birth at home and/or outside of the hosptial for as long as possible.
My pregnancy has been good- with lots of worries along the way of course. I am very much ready to have this baby as I know you can all relate. My OB is very set on induction, "just because" basically. I am very adament that I don't want to be induced unless of course there is a problem. However does anyone plan on doing some natural things after they hit full term to start the induction process?
Hope you will have me!
Re: Intro!
Hi there!
As far as induction "just because", I would also feel uncomfortable with this whole approach. It's so much harder to handle labor naturally when induced, because it's a slam-dunk. I'm glad you are having a doula at the very least.
With DD, I followed every old wives' tale, but I gotta say...I did go into labor.
6 days before my due date, there was a snow storm (barometric pressure= low). We went snow-shoeing (vigorous exercise). We had sex (prostoglandins in semen ripening the cervix). We ate at an Italian restaurant (oregano and basil).
Water broke while I slept that night. Delivered 44 hrs later.
