With all this talk about taking care of *our* bodily fluids, lol, I was wondering how many of you use cloth nursing pads. I would love to switch over, but I don't know much about them.
What brands or material do you prefer? I guess I'm looking for something absorbent, but trim and inexpensive if possible.
Do you wash them with your CDs?
(Wow, feeling like a total newb... Haha!)
TIA!
Re: School me on cloth nursing pads
The only ones I've tried are the organic cotton nursing pads from Babies R Us. I like them, I still use them every day. I wash them with my regular laundry. We don't use dryer sheets or anything, so I don't think washing with the regular laundry makes them less absorbent or anything.
I will say I don't leak all that much, so I doubt I really put them to the test. I just use them so the leftover milk from pumping doesn't get all over my bra. They are thicker than disposable nursing pads but IMO way more comfortable. They don't bunch up or anything.
I haven't tried them yet, but I heard Bamboobies are great!

I got some bamboo ones off etsy and like them.
If you're a heavy duty leaker, I hear wool is great.

I made some out of a receiving blanket, some flannel, and PUL (which you have to be careful of as it isn't breathable so can cause problems if you don't change often enough). I am a heavy leaker so need something waterproof, and I have to change them after every fakey letdown.
I much prefer them to disposable pads, which are expensive IMO.
I got some Apple Cheeks. Honestly, I'm not really a fan. They are soft and comfortable, but I leak a lot and I think I should have bought ones with PUL. I go through a box of 60 disposable NUK pads in a week-10 days though, so I use my cloth ones when we're at home, and sometimes I double up cloth and disposable, depending on the day/ leakage. I've heard good things about Lily Padz and Bamboobies and would like to try those.
I just wash with my regular laundry (we never use fabric softener so I think it's ok).
