My 40 week appt. today didn't go as planned. I am 2 "maybe" 3 cm she said (she stretched me to a 2 last week after my sweep), still thick - no effacement, and baby is at a -2 station... same as last week.
So I told my midwife i'm all about going to next week 41 weeks (from what I read, that's what most of you are allowed to go to via your practices). But after that, i'm just not comfortable. I have big babies - DS2 (my first vbac) was 9lbs at 39weeks. Half of me wonders if this baby is bigger hense her not dropping any further. And bigger babies = pushing harder = more stress on my c/s scar. So I asked her about an induction at 41 weeks. Her answer... we don't induce. It took me back because I had asked in the very beginning of my pregnancy if I went overdue, and both midwives I saw said they would do a slow induction of pitocin only. The one I even saw at 37 weeks said if i'm showing progress/contracting/uncomfortable they will induce at 39 weeks. I'm past that now, and i'm asking for one at 41 weeks and still no?
I cant' figure out if this midwife is just really conservative and really pro-vbac or what. I want another vbac, sure... but I also want a successful one... not one where I wait and wait and baby is too big for me, never drops, no progress, and I end up with a c/s anyway.
So I go next Tuesday for a fluid check, NST, and an appointment with the midwife who delivered my DS2 via vbac. She's the one who said she'd induce at 40/41 weeks before she let me hop into a c/s. So that's what i'm hoping for. I just feel like i'm in this and no one wants to get me out!
Re: How can midwives in the same practice be on different pages?
Thank you. Considering this midwife literally saved my DS2's life with her calm/quick actions (he had the cord wrapped 2x and was completely blue at birth), I trust her with my life... and my baby's life! In the next week i'm doing alot of sex, walking, bouncing, dancing, etc. LOL.

Yeah, they probably just aren't communicating with each other, which, is sadly probably typical.
Have you asked about a foley catheter as an option for induction?
I haven't. I do plan to ask on Tuesday however. I've had a sweep, sex, walked, spicy food... and nothing. I'm just convincved this baby doesn't want to come out! I have 10 days for something to happen. That's alot of time, right?
