DS goes to an in-home daycare 4-5 days a week. (My mom is a nurse and watches him one day during the week but some weeks she can't). The DCP is going on a family vacation in a few weeks and I need to find someone to watch DS. My mom is watching him one day like usuall but that is all she can do. And of course MIL is out of town that week also.
Has anyone ever dealt with this? I'm at a loss. I'm scrambling asking a few friends if they can help out. Most of my friends work so I only have a few options. Any suggestions?

Re: childcare help
Can you call a center and see if they do hourly care - meaning non-permanent? Our center does this.
ETA: not sure if you have already asked your provider if she has any provider friends that perhaps are not full? Or what the other parents are doing - to mabye seek out opportunities that they have?
There is a center in my building at work that I thought about calling. I wasn't sure if that was a possibility. I'll give that a try. Thanks!

A lot of the daycares/ MDOs around here follow the public school calendar, so that they are closed for a week or 2 at Christmas, spring break, etc., and it seems like a lot of parents just take off work. It's hard!!
If your mom has one day, could you take 2 days off, and your DH take 2?
We can if we absolutely HAVE to. But we both just started new jobs about 2 months ago and I would rather not take off work if possible. So I'm hoping I can figure something out!

Unexplained Infertility
After two Clomid cycles, three injectable IUI cycles, two IVFs, two miscarriages, and one lap surgery, IVF #2 has brought us our little boy!

After months of being postponed or cancelled, FET #1.3 (Natural FET) brought us twin girls!
You might try Sitter.city, if you have time to interview some people. I've also heard of temporary nanny services but I think they are pretty expensive.
We have used a service called S.eeking Sitters that prescreens sitters, who then work as independent contractors. They run like $20/hour plus a $25 fee per job and have franchises in a lot of cities. I always still insist on meeting the sitter first, though...
I am thankful every day for my miracle after infertility.
And thrilled to be pregnant again after FET!

My daughter's DCP also takes a week's vacation, but thankfully, she tells us the week at the beginning of January each year (even if it's for November). It really helps us to plan for who can watch Claire. I'd ask your friends. If DH is working the 3 pm to 1 am shift, I'll take a half day off. He has her in the morning, me in the afternoon.
