Nolan Daily is Here! (Birth Story enclosed) & PIP

I was laying in bed around 5:25am Monday, April 16th (37 weeks pregnant) and my water broke. We grabbed the bags and headed to the hospital about 45 minutes away. I got checked in and measured 2-3 cm once I was there. I had a couple false alarms the week before and had measured 1-2 cm, 50% effaced. He was ready to come out!

I got moved to my room and got "cozy". I opted for a natural childbirth, so I spent the next 6 hours moving around the room, on a birthing ball, hands and knees, and moaning. My dad told me that they could hear me from the cafeteria...haha

 I went really quickly my last 4cm and my Dr. almost missed the birth. She ran in, in her dress clothes, put on a gown, and sat down just in time to catch the baby about 5 minutes later! I pushed for about an hour total, but it felt like just a few minutes.

Nolan Daily O. was born at 1:16pm local time, weighing in at 6lb 4oz and 19 3/4" long. Eyes are blue/brown right now, hopefully they stay blue! He also has light sandy blond hair and Mommy hopes it goes red like Daddy's! haha

He has jaundice and we went home with a bili blanket, basically a light up fiber optic pad that he had to be on as much as possible, and after going for blood tests every day since we've been home, he has been cleared to not use it now! :-) His weight also dipped to 5lb 9 oz, but as of yesterday, he was 6lb 1oz!

We have been having breastfeeding issues due to the jaundice and prematurity, but we have a routine now. We try to nurse, if that doesn't work, we use a breast shield. I am also pumping after every feeding and supplementing with 1.5oz of breast milk after he is done with the boob. Feedings take quite awhile, but I am glad his weight is coming back up. My lactation consultants are amazing! :-)

We go for our 1 week appointment tomorrow, so wish us luck with low jaundice levels and weight gain!
