Hi, I have 4 C-Sections, 3 bikini cut and 1 Classical. I also have had other surgeries in my abdomen. We would like to have more children. We told our drs that we plan to have more children- they set us up to have an appointment with them in a few days to discuss a surgery to remove scar tissue. The reason is when our youngest was born it took them close to an hour to get to her because of the scar tissue. The drs likened my scar tissue to cement. They also said if my last birth had been an emergency it may not have ended good, being that it took them so long to get to the baby.
Has anyone here ever had surgery to remove scar tissue?
If so did you have any births after the scar tissue removal, and was there a difference?
Re: Scar Tissue
I have had 6c/s so far with my 7th scheduled for Nov. That being said, I have had adhesions/scar tissue since c/s #2. I had Dr R for my next two deliveries (3&4) and he took an hour + to deliver each, "cleaned up" the adhesions, and even put in film to help prevent them. Enter Dr N for the next two deliveries (c/s 5&6). He delivered them both in under 45 min start to finish, didn't mess with the adhesions at all. Even said that the film really doesn't work. I had extensive conversations with him about risks of me having more children. His take on scar tissue/adhesions are that every woman is different. There is no rhyme or reason as to why some women get them and some don't. The main difference between the two Dr's is this, Dr R used scare tactics to try and prevent me from having more children, Dr N, actually took the time to explain the risks and gave me all of the information to make an informed decision about my health.
One very important question to ask your Dr in regards to scar tissue and adheasions, especially if you have delivered more than one with the same doc, is, "have my they gotten worse or stayed the same after each delivery?" The answer I received from both docs was no, they had stayed the same. That told me that Dr. R was no longer the Dr for me. Before you have surgery to remove scar tissue, you need to have the answer to that question, especially if it gets worse with each surgery you have. Because there will be no guarantees that it will help, in fact my guess and logic would say that it would only make it worse. And if your doc comes back and says that there has been no change, then I would say don't do it. Unless your doc can give you a damn good reason why you should have surgery that YOUR body has shown will not make a difference.
I hope this helps and all makes sense to you.
Thanks for your responses.
I have not had the same DR. for more than 1 section.
I switched practices between 1 and 2 because #1's Drs said "No V-Bacs"
#2's Drs retired after her
#3 was out of State Emergency
