This is not meant to start a pro vs anti vaccine debate - just curious if anyone is refusing hep A right after birth, the eye antibiotics, or vitamin K. I know we will be doing the vitamin K, but refusing the hep A until later on. I'm going to ask about the eye antibiotics. I think it may be a state law in IL, but since I'm having a c/s there is no risk of her contracting anything from passing through the birth canal. Just curious what others are doing while at the hospital.

firstly, i'm sure you know, antibiotics are not a vaccine.
nor is vitamin k.
now onto more science: antibiotics will kill any bacteria, not just bacteria from a std you may have.
if you plan on breastfeeding your baby, you should get the vitamin k shot for it for sure. boobjuice contains very little vitamin k.
but what do i know. maybe you like your baby to experience
"Hemorrhagic Disease of the Newborn"
hep a or b?"
def get these if your kid is going to be around other kids.
you want your baby to be healthy and not have liver problemos!
it is for gonorrhea or clamydia or any other bacteria that your child may get.
here is info

If I remember correctly, this is what we did with DD at the suggestion of our pedi.
