So I have a question. In a post a couple days ago, some of you were raving about your minivans, saying something about how the middle row splits and the middle section/seat slides back and forth a few inches. I'm curious which model that feature is on? And what is the feature called exactly? I'm looking at them online, trying to "build my Honda" and I can't figure out which model has this feature. TIA!!
Re: Odyssey owners, come in
I have a 2011 odyssey... what you're talking about should be the same in all of the odysseys that are 2011 and newer (not sure about 2010 and older) in the middle row, you can remove 1 side captain's chair and the middle seat. I put my twins in the middle row w/ the side captain's chair removed, (so they're in the middle seat and other captain's chair) then put DD1 in the back row on the side, so I have a big open area in the middle.
The cool thing is that the middle seat in the middle row has the anchor system for a carseat. So, all 3 seats in the middle row have the anchor system and the 2 side seats in the back row have the anchor system, so you can do 5 carseats
The toyota sienna (the newest model) - the side seats cannot be removed in the middle row, but I think the middle seat can... and there's only enough anchor systems for 3 carseats...
It's all really hard to figure out, and the salespeople don't always know a lot about it. The older models have different configurations tho.
We have an 2012 Touring. Not sure what the feature is called. When traveling with more adults, we take off middle bench, leaving 2 captain chairs in middle row to make it easy to get in/out. Otherwise, we keep it in and have boys on either end of the row, giving me space to sit between them if they act up, etc.
The seats slide a bit together/apart, but 1) don't know what it is called, or 2) don't know how to use the feature, but know it exists.

HTH!
ETA: I lied. Just double checked. Per the Honda site, only EX level and above have "LATCH capable multi-function center seat" in the second row.
Also, not sure if this helps, but if it's a "7 passenger" van, that means it has a console in the 2nd row rather than the "8th" seat mentioned above.
Here is a pic of ours w/ the side captains chair removed, and the carseat bases in the 2nd row and DD1's carseat in the back row. I love it!
I hope this helps... we spent weeks trying to research how these seating configurations worked!
