HIP/ Pre-E issues after delivery?

We are having a really hard time getting my BP down since delivery, anyone else having/had issues?

As long as I am on bed rest and a low sodium diet I am good, but the minute I get up it goes crazy.  With DS1 it was back to normal within 24 hours of delivery.

Re: HIP/ Pre-E issues after delivery?

  • It took my sisters BP about a month to go back to normal after delivery. As for the hips when I was having hip issues in the second trimester I was told they would go back to normal once the relaxin hormone was out of my system. So they should be getting a little better as every day goes on. I had mine realigned by a chiropractor. He has done wonders for me since I have been pregnant.

  • I had severe pre-e with DD#1. My bp was elevated for a couple of weeks following delivery, but went back to normal by my 6-week appt. Good luck!

  • I'm now at 4 weeksost delivery with pre-e and I'm still on BP medication. They couldn't get mine regulated after delivery so they had to do something bc it was tragically high. Their hope is that after 4 to 6 weeks it will regulate itself... Don't worry honestly everything goes back to normal in time. All of my swelling and other issues from pre-e and pregnancy went away within about 2 weeks after delivery.
  • It took me about 6 weeks plus bp meds to get mine under control after ds1. I had to be on bed rest for a couple weeks right after delivery and then I was given pro-cardia. It seemed to help. I know it is hard to lay low when you have your lo, but you need to. I disobeyed my bedrest the 2nd week to go visit lo in nicu and ended up in the ER because I was dizzy and having numbness in my arm. You are still at risk for a stroke, so make sure to be good.  I am fine now and have had no issues since it cleared up after the 6 weeks. I hope yours gets back down soon.
