Can you develop a tolerance to Zofran?

I've noticed that my nausea has been getting worse lately and the Zo doesn't seem to be helping.  At first, it would completely alleviate all symptoms, but now I'm still left dry heaving, gagging and generally feeling nauseated...just without the throwing up.

Re: Can you develop a tolerance to Zofran?

  • I think so. This has happened to lots of others. I sometimes wonder if it's happened to me. You might need to increase your dosage or try a different anti-nausea med. Also, at this point I'm noticing my nausea seems to be more reflux induced. It's a sour acidy feeling nausea. So now I'm going to talk to my MW about controlling the acid and see if that helps.

  • Yes. Or your nausea can just get worse and you can need more zofran to maintain. 4mg once or twice a day was enough at first, then I had to go up to 8mg once or twice a day. Now mine is at least heartburn related, so now I'm back down to 4mg once a day along with 24 hr prilosec.

Mine as doubled last week too.... Wasn't working for me. I am still sick at times also...

  • Thanks for the replies.  I think mine is somewhat indigestion related.  Have you guys found anything that helps?  I took some ranitidine and tums, which are both supposed to be safe, but they don't seem to help.
