Describe Flutters for this FTM

Hi Ladies! I'm about 15 1/2 weeks pregnant and think I may be experiencing some baby flutters.  I know it's typical to start feeling these around 16 weeks, but being a FTM, I have no idea what if I'm feeling is actually flutters or not.  For those of you who have felt them already, can you please describe the feeling for me so that I can know for sure.  TIA!!!!

Re: Describe Flutters for this FTM

  • The best way I can describe them is they feel like a little twitch in your uterus.  You know like when you get an eye twitch - it feels like that but in your ute.  But don't worry - it's not annoying like an eye twitch!  It's pretty amazing.

  • A big thing on when you will feel them is how whether this is your first and where the placenta is.  Typically, those that have had one already kinda know what they feel like and feel them sooner.  But if your placenta lies in the front (like my second) it'll take much longer to feel them.  It's kinda hard to describe, but to me it feels like rolls and butterfly flutters in my uterus.  I'm pretty sure I've felt it a few times already.  Maybe this time the placenta is towards the back.

  • I'm glad you asked this question - I "think" I felt something this morning before I got out of bed. It wasn't gas. It felt like a ping pong bounced once in my lower abdominal region. And as I sit here and type this, I've felt it a few more times, on the left, which is where I felt it this morning. Maybe baby is finally making presence known? Maybe I'm full of dookie? Who knows.

That definitely could have been baby! Smile

  • I just started feeling the baby move the other night, I asked a friend and explained to her what I felt, she said she would describe it as popcorn popping.  And that's exactly what it felt like.  I was skeptical that it was the baby I was feeling, so last night while I was laying in bed I felt it again.  I pushed down on my belly lightly where I felt it and felt the movements again. Today I have felt it a few times as well.

ETA: I'm a FTM as well.

This is how I felt last night! I swore it was the baby moving. It was actually a tickly feeling.

That's what I'm feeling only it's closer to my ribs then my uterus. And it's only on the one side, so maybe it is!!

Hmm, if it's closer to your ribs then it's probably not baby yet as your uterus would not be that far up at 15 weeks.

This. Although to me it felt more like a jab of pressure instead of butterflies. I thought maybe it was gas but it keeps coming back every couple days so it's the only think I can think of. It sure does feel weird..

  • For me it feels like a marble rolling around.

  • I think I have felt something twice. The first time was a little like popcorn lightly popping. The second time was today and it was like this little stretch, it was very quick.

I'm pretty sure that it wasn't gas either time!

  • The marble rolling around is a good description too. It's such a light feeling, so amazing! How exciting!

  • FTM here, but I think I'm feeling baby every once in awhile - once a day or sometimes twice.  For me, it has felt like someone drumming on the inside with their fingers, but really, really lightly.  On Sunday, I may have been head-butted, because it was hard enough to startle me.  I've never felt anything like that before!

Darn!!!  Wonder what I'm experiencing then. Oh well, I'll just continue to wait.  I'm sure I'll feel something more real sooner or later Confused
