Koltyn used to LOVE getting his hair washed. As of the last few months, he screams the entire time we are washing his hair and scratches so hard at his boy parts. Sorry, I know this sounds silly, but honestly he pays no attention to that area of his body until we start washing his hair. It's almost like a nerve or something is set off while we are shampooing. Anyone else have this issue or do I just have a weirdo on my hands lol!?
Re: Bathtime question for moms of boys
We don't have this problem, but I remember when I was little and would get haircuts there would sometimes be something about the way my hair was combed up from my head to trim it that would send little shivers down my back. I wonder if it's something similar for him? Instead of being super gentle (which might be making things ticklish) maybe try a firmer touch?
My other suggestion is to let him try rubbing the shampoo onto his hair if you think he's ready...I let DS "wash" his skin with a little dab of shower gel while I soap him up for real, which helps him sit still and stay calm. Letting him have some control over the shampooing might distract him from whatever is bothering him about it. Good luck!
On a side note, boys (and men?!?) are so crazy with their junk...the other night I was letting DS air out after his bath and he started running around SLAPPING it and laughing. I'm so glad he hasn't figured out how to take off his diaper yet.
He's growing up, but he'll always be my baby!
