Your LO's teething symptoms

LO is cutting her second bottom front tooth.  Everyone says these are the easy ones.  But she was up at 3am and wouldn't go back to sleep.  I usually leave for work at 5....and I was late b/c I was soothing a sad baby.

I am thinking it's teeth b/c I was trying to nurse her and all of a sudden she pulled off and screamed, like she'd bitten her tongue.  Obviously she didn't bite her tongue....but that was the reaction.

But I don't really know!  So what were some symptoms that your LOs had when they were teething?

Re: Your LO's teething symptoms

  • DD still has no teeth!  I keep saying (for the past 3 months) that is the reason for her being up at night, but she has yet to prove me right.

  • My kid does not taking teething well at all.

She's normally a good baby but we pay for it here.

Runny nose, general all day whining if not all out screaming. Chewing on her hands, chewing on me, chewing on anything in sight. Won't nap, wants to be held to sleep at bedtime. Wakes up a lot. Her gums also get really red/white and swollen.

I keep teething rings in the freezer and they save my life. She will just lay on the floor and chew for like a 1/2 hour.

Motrin/Tylenol works the best for us as well. I swore I would never be one to drug my kid unless necessary, but I do it a lot during teething. It makes me sad to listen to her scream and what else am I supposed to do? That stuff works.

  • He got the redness on his chin, and drooled

  • Drool and swollen/red gums are the two things I've noticed.

  • Basically one--lots of pooping!

  • Red rashy cheeks (usually 1 side more than the other) runny nose, cranky, not eatting as much, more drool

  • Our DD drools like a maniac, chews on everything and even has a little bit of runny bowel movements. And she seems to not want food or a bottle quite as much?I think it causes some discomfort. She has three bottom teeth now and number 4 is going to pop up any day.
  • DD first gets constipated.  Then comes the diaper rash.  Then comes the cold-like symptoms (cough/runny nose).  Then the tooth finally pops.  Whew.

  • DS has 4 teeth. The bottom middle were easy. The first top front tooth was nasty. Cold, runny nose and cranky! Then I got an amber teething bracelet. I swear- knock on wood, that that thing is a miracle! The 2nd middle tooth is pretty much through now and I've only had to give Tylenol once. I don't think it will work wonders for the eye teeth or molars but for the others it seems to be doing the trick.

  • Hmm, thanks for the replies!  Maybe it's not a tooth, haha.  I mean, she's cranky, but nothing else.  We have one of those amber necklaces but always forget to put it on her....  Thanks again.  :-)

I put it on his ankle and roll his sock over top. The only time we take it off is bath time. He's never touched it and could care less that it's on there.
