My daughter was sleeping which is usually a good time to trim her nails. I was about to clip when she woke up with a start and I caught her skin instead. She cried for maybe a minute, but there was a flap of skin hanging off her finger and it would NOT STOP bleeding. I tried ice, pressure, holding it over her head- nothing.
I finally called her pediatrician's office and they asked me if I wanted to bring her in. By the time I got there, the bleeding had stopped so they just cleaned it off, used some neosporin, and put a band aid on it.
I was in tears the entire ride over there and even though she's fine, and happy, and napping contently in her crib, I still feel so utterly wretched. I can't believe I hurt my sweet little baby.
Re: I'm the Worst Mother Ever
Aw, it's ok!
Just remember- if that is the worst thing you do to her, you're doing really well
Plus she won't remember it!
Hugs....I hate clipping DD nails also because she always moves even in her sleep. There has to be an easier way!
Confession: I've never clipped DS's nails. I use a fingernail file because I'm too scared I'll hurt him with the clippers.
OP: I'm glad she's okay!
