RP - Any success measuring behind at 7 weeks?

I had my second u/s today.  One week ago (when I was 6 weeks 1 day), I was measuring 6 weeks and there was no heartbeat.  Today, (7 weeks 1 day), I am only measuring 6 weeks 3 days.  There was a heartbeat, but Dr. didn't measure because she said it was too small.  Compared to where I was last week, I am 4 days behind.

Any success stories when measuring so far behind.  The Dr. wants me to come back in a week and advised me not to tell anyone yet.  Of course, this really freaked me out.  I keep thinking that this is early signs that I will miscarry soon. :(

  • 4 days isn't so far behind.  It's a good sign that there's a heartbeat.  Stay positive until next week.

  • Yes, I had this happen.  I was measuring a week and a half behind, and I knew the date I ovulated (because I was charting).  I was told to prepare for miscarriage.  I was beside myself and so upset.  I switched Dr's (because I thought the way they handled the situation was wrong and inaccurate) and I learned that the US machine my old doc was using was crap!  I was measuring right on target, and now here I am at 22 weeks and fine.  GL its awesome that you heard the HB because that alone tells you your progressing.

  • From what I have heart you can measure anywhere up to a week off early on and still be considered normal.  Like pp said it's a good sign you progressed and saw the hb.

  • Yes....my first U/S I measured 6wks, 2days (even though I was 7wks 5days since my LMP)....then my second U/S was TWO weeks later & I only measured 7wks (not 8wks, 2days) but we saw a little heartbeat.  Last Friday, 4wks later I had my 3rd U/S (since we didn't hear the heartbeat) & wouldn't you know there was a baby in there kicking around, stretching, etc.  The Doc didn't measure it but she said it looked great...everything is fine so far.  Unless you have cramping/bleeding I'd just hope for the best.  And those early U/S can be so off...heck, I saw the U/S take measurements from different angles & get several day difference w/ in a minute.

  • Oh wow!  Now that makes me nervous.  By all accounts (missed period date) I should be 8 weeks, 6 days now.  But I had an US last week and found out I was only 5 weeks, 5 days.  (Now 6 weeks, 3 days) There was HB acticity though. Good. I am to go back in 2 weeks.  I really felt the doctor was trying to prepare me for the worst as well.  I felt it was because of my age...I didnt really think about it until I read this.  I will just try to stay positive and hope for the best until I know more in 2 weeks.  This will be my 3rd, but it has been 10 years for me since I last gave birth.  It is so different at 38!!  So many worries and tests!  Any advice out there??
  • I had an u/s at exactly 7w and the baby was measuring 6w2d.  I freaked out but my doctor told me not to worry, ordered me to get another u/s at 11w exactly, and said to still consider myself 7w until after the second u/s, we'd adjust accordingly if necessary.  At 11w, my baby was measuring ahead at 11w2d.  I was, and still am, so relieved!!  Try not to worry, I know that's easier said that done.  But you have to stay positive.  Good luck.
