Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Is this tacky?

I got an email yesterday from my cousin in Missouri, (i'm in Jersey) titled, "Aubrey's Christmas Wish List" and it listed things "Aubrey" wants for xmas.  PS- Aubrey is 2 months old.

I think this is weird to send a mass email to people specifying what your 2month old wants for xmas.

Thoughts?

Re: Is this tacky?

  • i think it's tacky to just send it out to a bunch of people who never asked for it.  if someone asks, then i would send it

but that's looking like you're gift grabbing, IMO to just do it to everyone you know.

  • DH and I sent one to our parents because they were asking what Ava needs. I wouldn't send it to everyone, that is rude, imo.
  • Exactly, if people ask what to get I tell them but if they don't ask, I don't mention it......my dd is 4 months old, she likes ANYTHING that lights up or makes noise.

  • Emily Post is having convulsions.

    Tacky, YES!

  • Hells yeah that s tacky. Would your cousin's baby even be on your gift giving list?
  • I don't know, it kinda depends on the situation.  I am making a list of things that Jack wants or I want for him because everyone wants to buy for him and they keep asking.

If that hasn't been established and she is establishing this, then that would be tacky.

  • Very.  My SIL did this last year and included her & her husband's wanted items.  Uh, and they're in their mid-30s.
  • I also make a list and/or send pics of things Ally might like to my inlaws and parents but again that's because THEY ASKED!!!  I never asked what her daughter wanted.  Our family isn't that big and we had 5 babies born this year so all of us cousins will be buying small things for the babies and that's about it.  But I already did my shopping and got her things that were of course NOT on the list.  Oh well, that's what she's getting.  She isn't going to know the difference if I got her a singing Winnie the Pooh playset instead of the Baby Einstein one that was ON THE LIST!
  • I only send a list to people who ask, so yeah that's at least a bit odd, if not worse. When people have asked me I just tell them my registry is still valid and I created an amazon wishlist at my mother's request.
