Hey guys! Sorry this is a bit long...I am just at my wits end and hope that SOMEONE out there can offer any sort of advice....
I had a natural miscarriage on 2/14/12. After the actual miscarriage "event" I bled and/or spotted everyday for just shy of one month...and then nothing for a couple days. The absence of blood, even for those few days, REALLY overjoyed me...it had been so long, and I thought maybe it was all over.
Then the blood came back in full force. I have ALWAYS had the lightest, most regular periods...and this was almost worse than the miscarriage itself...I almost drove to the ER because i was soaking through a pad in a little more than an hour. Luckily, it slowed a bit, but it was still SO heavy. I was told that my first period might be heavy, so I called my doc and they scheduled an u/s...of course, they couldn't get me in until 2 weeks later.
I bled for about nine days...and suddenly stopped again..just before my appt.
My ultrasound looked good, but my doc said I have what looks like a small cyst and it was probably just from the miscarriage and didn't look worrisome. He told me the bleeding that had occurred just days before was probably my period and not to worry, that lots of women have irregular periods after.
In the weeks following, I had sporadic spells of very light spotting. Then what I THINK is my period again. I had 3 days of very heavy bleeding, then three days of NOTHING...then 2 days ago, the heavy bleeding is back....
WHEN WILL THIS STOP?! I haven't gone a day since Feb 14 that I haven't had to wear a pad, just in case. The bleeding is so heavy for about an hour, and then nothing for 8hrs...then it's like a flood again. I have ruined so many pairs of undies and pants , sorry TMI, that I've had to restock more than a couple times now...Too, i should mentioned that I have bouts of bloating and what seems to be PMS symptoms NON-STOP. I'm terrified that I;ll have an "accident" while I am out in public and can't even dream of doing vigorous activity or work out.
Am I just over-reacting? Maybe because I never had heavy periods I am not aware of what it looks like to have one? Should I be more assertive with my doc to find answers? I am so frustrated and feel like this is never going to stop....like its never going to get back to normal again...
I'd be so grateful for any advice at all. Thanks!

THIS. SIL had heavy bleeding and cramps for months after giving birth and her doctor insisted it was normal and no tissue had been retained. She finally saw another doctor who discovered a large section of placenta that her other doctor hadn't seen on ultrasounds. You know your body; if something doesn't seem right, get it checked out!
