Inees and Outees- a few belly button questions

Has anyone's belly button popped out yet? When does this usually happen? Does it happen to everyone? Anything else us FTM need to know about belly buttons?

On another note, I'm starting to see that line on my belly ( can't remember the name for it) It's very faint, but I guess I'll be getting that! Anyone else?

Re: Inees and Outees- a few belly button questions

  • My belly button never popped with DD, so I guess I can confirm that it doesn't happen to everyone!

  • Mine went flat with my two near the end of my pregnancies, like 34-35 weeks. It's still obviously an inny for now (21 weeks).

  • Mine went flat before. It never really looked the same after that. =/
  • I have an outtie belly button.  It's almost sticking out now.  I'd say two weeks before its completely pushed out.  Because I was a bit chubby before my BFP, my outtie is sunken in a bit.  It's still a little pea shape though.

  • I have a very deep innie and bet DH that it wouldn't pop last pregnancy.  When the girls were born I was measuring about 12 weeks ahead and I STILL had an innie!!!!  So I definitely don't think mine will pop this time.

I had a very, very faint linea negra last time but it didn't appear until much later.  If you're darker skinned, it might appear sooner.  My two friends that got one early on are much daker than me.

The line is a linea nigra.  And just so you know, last time it stayed with me for about 4 months after I gave birth!

My belly button never popped last time.  It just got really flat.  I also wore a belly button ring.  I have it back in now, but I'll be taking it out soon - I never switched to the belly button rings that are bendable.  And my belly button never went back to looking normal after I gave birth.  Maybe with this one, it will go back to it's original shape instead of a half innie/half flattie.

I was wondering, when you took out your belly button ring, did the hole get bigger as your belly did? I just took mine out, and I probably won't bother to get a bendable one. I was just wondering if the hole is going to stretch?

  • I haven't popped yet, but I think I'm definitely going to. I'm an innie but my belly button has flattened out quite a bit and is very shallow now.

  • Mine is about halfway out already. It's on it's way to being a glorious out-ee.

  • My belly button is COMPLETELY sticking out.  It popped with DD but not until much later.  It went to an innie/outtie after I had her.  It popped weeks ago, its ridiculous.  Sticks out so far that even with a cami and shirt strangers still comment on it.  Gah!!!!!
  • I never popped with DS, though it did get more shallow.

  • Mine is getting more shallow every week.  I hope it does't go inside out.
  • My innie popped to an outie with DS but not until the 3rd tri.

Ditto with linea negra, not until 3 tri and it stayed with me for 3 mos post partum.

My once adorable innie is what I now refer to as my jacked up belly button, as it's kind of in, kind of out and all kinds of ugly. I learned that I likely have diastisis (separation of ab muscles) which caused pressure up front during my last pregnancy and "jacked up" my belly button. It's now popped out at 20 weeks with this pregnancy.

  • My innie (however you spell that) is totally getting more shallow, so I'm nervous. I'm not a fan of belly buttons in general (idk why that is), so I'm not thrilled about the fact that it might pop out or never go back to normal.

  • Mine never popped out last time.  It's really deep, so I don't anticipate it popping this time either.  DH was disapointed lol.

I think my popped the last month. I put a band aid over it if you could see it through my shirt.

I don't remember when I got the linea negra but I do remember it took forever to go away.

  • My belly button popped close to the end, but I forget exactly. I also had linea negra - maybe around 7 months?
