Screaming during bath and pre-bedtime

Right when we get home from work at 6:15 I change my clothes and immediately start on DS' bedtime. The fussing can start as early as the car ride home or can sometimes wait until sometime in the bath process. At some point in the tub he just starts getting crazy mad to get the boob. He screams and cries all through the bath, during diapering, during jammies. And everytime I set him down he just wales. Once he hits the boob he is in extacy. It sucks because I can never introduce bedtime books and I want his bedtime to be sweet and peaceful. I can't get home any earlier and I can't wake him up for the day any later (6:30). He naps great and eats well. Anyone else have a bedtime like this? Any suggestions?

    I agree with PP... and my DD is just like this. If she gets upset enough then I nurse her before starting the bedtime routine. And most times that settles her down and she plays a bit more and is happy through the whole routine. I think the anticipation of food makes some kids crazy because they know their routine so well.

    My LO only does this if he is hungry. Do you have to do the bedtime routine so early? Usually you only need about 30 mins, well I guess I usually only need that amount of time, each baby is different. Like PP said you could try nursing him first then maybe bath time would be more enjoyable. Sometimes I just suck it up  and let him nurse during story time, which he usually passes out during it. I prefer the quiet time during story time over bath time since his baths aren't very long due to the fact that he has baby eczema and the water dries him out. Good luck!

    I agree with PPs.  Also, you can try introducing books after nursing.  That's what we do.
