Is this a dumb question? :-/ I see so many people say you should change your newborn every 1-2 hours but mine sleeps so much that I'm only changing every 3-4 hours usually (twice he's slept 5 hours!) because I don't wake him up to change him. Tell me I'm not doing this "wrong"...

Re: Do you wake your newborn to change them?
BFP #1 9/7/10, EDD 5/14/11, Violet born 5/27/11.
BFP #2 4/9/12, EDD 12/16/12, M/C Rory 4/24/12.
BFP #3 10/6/12, EDD 6/16/12., Matilda born 6/17/13.
Ditto. The only time he's leaked has been user error in putting the diaper on (and it was BG XS, I didn't have it tight enough) but he's never leaked otherwise. I just wonder about it irritating his skin.
Glad to hear I'm not committing some parenting crime though
OMG, i read your ticker wrong and i thought you were saying your 8 week old sleeps 12 hours at night. i was like
. now i see that's how PG you are. LOL!!!
it took us until 15 months so you're already way ahead of us! but 8 weeks would have been INSANE, lol.
This exactly! Never wake a sleeping baby. Unless there's poop. And fleece liners rock!
not related to diapering, but as long as baby has reached birth weight and (if you are nursing) your supply is ok, you can let them sleep. Some newborns sleep a lot and do so because they arent getting enough nutrition, but if they output of the diapers is ok and your supply (if bfing) is good, dont wake the baby.
If baby isnt at BW yet, I would not let him sleep more than 4 hours at a stretch at night. Or if you have any supply issues.
my supply is out of control and lo was back up to his birth weight by day 5, so we're good to go there. he's just a good sleeper, maybe because he's got such a full, happy belly!
