Re: ~*~*~Weekly Budgeting Check-in~*~*~
Hi Jenn and everybody!
My "meeting" with DH went well. I bought a file folder system and we now have a folder for everyone of our expenses and bills. We made a list of every expense and how much it cost. We had a list for our "fixed" expenses and a budget for the stuff we have control over, (gas, electricity, groceries etc.) We set days to go to town (we live in the country so it is expensive) and are now doing errands all together on the same day and being more organized to save gas. We are going to visit his family less (twice a week is a bit much when they live an hour away.) We also agreed to stop going out to eat except for one small meal a week. (coffee at starbucks or something like that). This hasn't been hard for me because I am cheap by nature but has been a big change for DH.
Did you have any setbacks this week? Our dog got an infection so I had to bring her to the vet and buy medicine for her but stuff like that happens. Also I went over on my grocery budget but I am not too concerned about it because I set the number really low so going over one week because I had to stock up on some of the pricey things is not too big of a deal.
Tightwad tip: set your budet on your lowest income (if your income changes) For example, now was a good time to make a budget for us because my husbands work sent him to some training so he is making quite a bit less than he normally does. When he goes back on his normal schedule in june we will have extra money that can go towards our debt and not expenses

Welcome to the check-in! We always like having people join and offer accountability and encouragement. I personally use Dave Ramsey's budget sheets that you can find here.
I then just use an Excel spreadsheet to keep trackof my receipts and expenses to see where we're at with our total monthly goal on a weekly basis. Good luck!

Oops, I just realized I hadn't actually responded to the questions yet!
Have you set your goal and made your plan to achieve it?
For this week? Spend as little money as possible. So far so good. We've basically only been buying food and gas and paying the necessary bills.
What have you done to work towards your goal? Are you on track with meeting your goal?
Our overall goal was to put more money on our mortgage but since DH lost his job and has now started his own business, that's on the back burner. For now we are just trying to get by on my salary and continue to market his business!
Did you have any setbacks this week?
Not really. Nothing unexpected has come up. It would be nice is DH could get a couple more jobs lined up though.
What is your tightwad tip of the week?
I may have already mentioned this but have an emergency fund in place. It's really nice to have when emergency's come up and you don't have any money. That way, you don't have to go back in debt or further into debt.
