Blurry Vision?

I was just at lunch with one of my coworkers and my right eye got extrememly blurry. It was to the point where I pretty much only was able to see my friend sitting across the table from me, and nothing on my right side. I can't explain it other then it was blurry and I had black squigglies across my right eye. It lasted about 20 minutes or so and then seemed to get better (I don't think it is 100%). Does anyone know what that is or what I/if anything I should do about it? I was really freaked out

    I've heard and read that your eyes can get blurry during pregnancy and not to worry about it because you return back to normal after delivery. They say it has to do with the "relaxin" I think it's called. That hormone that is contributing to all of our muscles and joints getting ready for delivery. If you start seeing black or colored spots and feeling weird other than not being able to see clearly you may be dehydrated. HTH.

    In my email from the bump this morning, they said that blurry vision might be occurring...otherwise I would have no idea about your post. I'm not sure if they offer any other information, but you could certainly search it.

    You should definitely call your doctor about it. I was having black spots all over my vision this morning so I called my doctor, and they scheduled me an appointment immediately to check for preeclampsia. It's probably nothing big, but you should definitely get it checked out just in case.

    This has happened to me both pre and during pregnancy. I contacted my eye doctor the first time it happened (a year ago) and he said it is an ocular migraine and are common. The blurry vision may or may not be accompanied with an actual headache. He told me to time how long it lasted and how often. He said he would only be concerned if I got them frequently.

    With that being said, I have had two of these in the past week, both lasting about 30 minutes with no headache. I am just going to wait and talk to my doctor at my appointment later this week since I have had these before and knowing that blurry vision can happen during pregnancy.

    thanks ladies. I wound up calling my OB, she had me come right in to check my BP. It was time, 100/65 so she called an eye specialist and has me going first thing tomorrow just to play it safe. I appreciate all your input and info

    I'm glad you called your doctor. Blurry vision can sometimes be a sign of Pre-E. But good to hear nothing is wrong on that front. Hopefully it's nothing. :)

    With my DD (now 5) i went completely blind for about 20 minutes. Scariest thing EVER! My sister by that time worked at the hospital so I had to "feel" my way through the telephone digits and phone her. She picked me up but the doctor couldnt find anything wrong. I told my gynae about it the next time I went. He looked at my blood pressure (probably testing preeclampsia) but all was well. Still don't know what caused it.
