My boys are currently not any where near the growth chart for actual age. They are finally on the chart for adjusted age at about 5-10th percentiles. Depending on birth weight, how premature your LO was, and genetics it can take up to 2 years for preemies to catch up. MH and I were pretty small kids so I expect it will take a long time for my preemies to catch up in size.
DD is catching up faster than we thought she would, especially in the weight department but I try not to worry about the FT growth charts, shes growing and she is close to her adjusted growth charts in length and on her adjusted chart for weight - shes a year old now - I dont expect her to be caught up until at least two
Height on the other hand is a different story, we're still at less than 2% for height, although 18 months was the first time he was finally on the chart.
Thanks. I know my DD is underweigth (8lbs 10oz at almost 5 months actual), but I just don't know if it is slow weight gain and she will have a spurt and catch up eventually. She is tetering on the edge of needing a g-tube to help her catch up.
Lucy officially hit the full-term growth curve today at her 4 month appointment. She's 1st percentile for both height and weight, so she just barely made the curve.
No, my DD is barely in the 3rd percentile for her adjusted age in weight and like 7th percentile for height. She's 12 months now and only 15.5 lbs and 27 inches long. She's tiny. Our pedi isn't concerned because she's reaching all her milestones appropriately and she's really active. They think she would be small even if she were a term baby. She's consistently followed her own curve so it's been a non issue. She has had reflux/feeding issues and she's never had a huge appetite but her weight increases, so they don't worry.
So, don't fret if your LO isn't on the curve. Heck, some term babies are barely on the curve and they are perfectly fine. My thought process is... there are just some fat babies out there. lol

Re: Weight catch up??
at her 7 mth check up (4 mths adj) my DD was just reaching the 5th percentile line for height and weight for 7 month olds.
my DS is still currently below the curves, but not by too much.

Just pulled up my son's growth chart for weight

-10% at 12 months
