AW (XP from Health & Exercise) Ran my first 5K yesterday!

Hey, Ladies!

I just wanted to let you know since you've been so supportive and have given such great advice, I ran my first 5K yesterday!

Here I am with Liam before the race:

And here I am with my friend Skye. I got 2nd in my age category, and she got 3rd, so we ROCKED the 30-39 group!

Thanks so much for all of the advice! I think I'm signing up for my next 5K on Mother's Day. Since it's a Mother's Day run, they're going to have an inflatable jumpy castle and all sorts of other fun stuff for kiddos while the "mamas" are running :-)

  • Congratulations!  That is awesome.  I'll be running my first 5K next Saturday.  I'm a very slow runner though, so there is no way I'm going to place.  I'm OK with it though, my goal is to get through the whole thing without stopping to rest.

  • Awww... Thanks, Everyone! I'm a slow runner, too. This just wasn't a competitive race. It was a little local thing for the animal shelter, and you could run either with or without your dog. (None of my dogs would probably make it through a 5K, so I ran without a dog, which was probably a big advantage for me.)

Good luck on your upcoming races!

  • Great job! I ran my first post-baby 5k on St. Patty's Day. It felt SOOOO good - can't wait for the next one. I'm now 10lbs lighter than I was pre-baby (that being said I still have college weight to lose :-P) so I am proud of myself.

    Happy running!
