Excessive Amniotic Fluid-Anyone Else?

Hey Ladies,

After my u/s last week where everything looked good, upon further review the doctor determined that my amniotic fluid level was too high.  He has now ordered a high definition u/s for this Wednesday.  I have done a little research as to what this could mean, which could be nothing or something more serious.

We are choosing to remain confident that our prayers for a healthy girl have already been answered and we have nothing to worry about.  Anyone else had a similar experience or know someone who has?  If so, what was the cause/result?

TIA

  • I did my last baby and everything was fine no problems and no reason for it at all. My doctor said sometime sit just happens.

  • Thank you ladies.  That absolutely helps.  It is just a bit unnerving...Dr. Google is not your friend!
  • Stay away from google! My doctor said it's fairly common. Try not to stress it! I hope everything turns out just fine!

Thank you.  You are right.  BTW- Your girls are stunning.

  • I was just told today my fluid levels are high, but it's a side effect of my GD.  If my sugars are high, that means baby is getting more sugar and peeing more, hence more fluid.  My insulin was just raised again on Friday to help my lunch numbers stay in range, so hopefully that'll do the trick.  I'm already getting bi-weekly NSTs and once a week ultrasounds, so that protocol won't change.  They'll just keep an eye on it.

  • I am going for a level 2 ultrasound tomorrow at maternal fetal medicine because my ob thinks this might be the case for me.  I am now measuring 5 weeks ahead and he is a bit concerned.  I agree google is NOT your friend.  I am really nervous but trying to stay calm until we have more information.
