Moms of boys. Need some help with my tummy sleeper.

DS is a tummy sleeper.  Gravity works.  DS pees and it soaks the front of his diaper so badly it leaks out the front and he wakes up frozen and covered in pee.  He would sleep so much later if he weren't waking up soaked.  And of course I am constantly washing his bedding because of all the pee.   I always make sure to point it down when I put the diaper on but what else can I do for the poor guy?

Re: Moms of boys. Need some help with my tummy sleeper.

  • We are having the same issues! We've tried Pampers, Target's Up & Up brand and now Luvs. The Luvs leaked yesterday but my DH put that diaper on him and he never seems to put them on tight enough for night. He didn't feel wet when I went I at 7 to give him his pacifer. He's still sleeping now (which hasn't happened in a while) so I'm wondering if they did the trick and he's dry. I will let you know when he wakes.

  • Try a size up for bed time, or put the diaper on high on the front and low on the back. If it makes you feel better, my son was a super soaker, and woke up wet frequently.

  • We are using size 4 pampers overnites and haven't had a leak since we started using them. DS is in size 4 pampers during the day as well.

  • We had that problem getting worse and worse the last little while. Last night he was soaked. I will try the size up tonight. Right now we are using Pampers Baby Dry. If that's not working, I'll try a Huggies Overnight and if that doesn't work I'll have to go ask someone. I really don't want to change him regularly at night. It wakes him up.

  • We have the same problem, we were in Luvs, then tried Pampers Baby Dry, now Huggies. We have been dry for 2 nights now. I am hoping this is our answer, but the idea to make the front of the diaper higher than the back sounds like a good one too.

  • Ditto the PPs that suggested going up a size.

I'm not sure if this would be helpful (or if it would work with a disposable) but is there any kind of doubler you could place in the front part of the diaper for overnight?

I forgot about that! Yes there is. It's called the Diaper Doubler. You can find it in BRU. I used it with my DD and it worked great. I will have to get some more. They are like $4 for a bag of 20...

  • My ds is a tummy sleeper and he has been sttn for 10 to 11hrs. I use a size 4 Up &Up diaper and haven't had leaking problem, so a size up in the diapes that normally work well for him I think would do the trick. Or like pp said overnight diapers, but I've never personally used them.

  • Diaper doublers. Its just an insert, my grocery store sells them.
  • Yeah I agree with what most people have already said about going up a size. My DS is a tummy sleepers, wears size 3 Pampers during the day and started leaking pee, so we bumped up to size 4 Pampers at night with no more leaks.

  • he goes to bed at 7:30, but I do a final diaper change at 11pm. If I don't, then he wakes up soaked.  I also use one size larger at night time. He wakes up dry around 6:30 am.

We had this problem and just went up a size for nighttime.  I would also suggest trying the overnight diapers.

This. We are using Huggies Overnights in a size 3 (they are still in 2s during the day) and we haven't had any leaks.

  • I am using a size 4 pampers overnight and it doesn't help.  I think I am going to try a new brand of diapers.   We love fisherprice diapers but they don't seem to be available in the 3 for daytime but I might as well just switch to 4s the inset is a good idea I am going to look for them.

  • We're using Pampers Baby Dry in a size up from his daytime diapers. I change him during his first feeding (whether that is 2am or 5am) and we haven't had any issues. Good luck!
