After graduating from RE he recommended an obgyn in the next town for me. I didn't want to go to my old one because I thought the wait was ridiculous. I would wait my turn for over an hour with an appointment. Also, I think she has been doing this for so long that she has begun to lose her sensitivity chip. She was a little cold with my last mc. Asking me why are you upset, you are young, no need to cry. Actually more like scolding me.
Anyway, the obgyn he recommended is on maternity leave until June, but I decided to try another one at the same practice. Receptionist had me sit with my cup of pee in my hand for ten minutes. Then turns out OB doesn't do US. I was really upset because I need that reassurance. I was actually kind of rude and asked what he would be doing when I see him. He said we would talk and see how I'm doing. I told him so something could be happening and we wouldn't know. He said that If something was going wrong we probably couldn't stop it anyway. He says that every other obgyn he knows doesn't do US, that they all send patients to radiology. Great so I have to make two separate appts, two co pays, and two days of searching for parking. Oh and if something looks bad on US I'll have to wait until he call me back because US tech sends him the results.
Needless to say, I think I'll be going back to old OB . At least her staff is sweet, she has US machine and uses it every visit, and I know it's a long wait but she must have so many patients for a reason.i just don't want to keep jumping from OB to OB. Thanks for letting me vent.
Does your OB do US?
Re: Does your OB not do US? Long vent.

TTC #2: current cycle: 225iu Menopur for 4 weeks, Ovidrel Trigger= BFP! Beta #1; 333, Beta #2 713! 1st u/s showed TWINS (7/18)
I had a dating u/s, an a/s, and will have one at 32 weeks. All the rest are done at high risk!
~after 34 cycles we finally got our 2nd little bundle of joy~

My IF blog
My OB's office doesn't do u/s at all and the office I go to is located in a hospital!! I do wish they would do them there, maybe not at every appt, but some. To get a u/s they write a script to go to an imaging center. Since I go to a MFM I get my u/s there, but there is 6 weeks between my NT scan and my a/s and that is a long wait!
In fact, the OB I saw at my last appt. wouldn't even try to find both babies heartbeats on the dopler. So I am considering changing OB's for that and other reasons, but I probably wouldn't switch for not getting a u/s every time. You have to do what makes you feel comfortable though.
I don't think my OB does U/S in the office. I've seen her twice so far (8w & 12w) and there's no u/s, and not even doppler. As far as I can tell, the exam rooms are tiny and there's no way they can fit an u/s machine in there.
My OB's office is in a medical bldg attached to the hospital. So, for my 12w NT scan, I was sent to the MFM dept in the hospital. They scheduled both my NT scan and OB appt back-to-back on the same day, so I only had to go there once.
My OB told me that my next visit w/her at 16w, she'll be checking hb with doppler in her office. My next u/s is a/s at 18w and again it'll be done at MFM dept. I personally don't think it's routine to do u/s at every OB appt unless one is high risk.

Our IVF miracle, Baby Boy M, arrived on 11/8/2012!
I think it is pretty standard to not get us at the ob. My ob office is in the same building as a very good ultrasound place, so when it is time for us, I just schedule the us appt with ob one to follow. I am usually given a short preliminary radiology report to show my ob at the appt.
I don't pay copays at either of these appts with my insurance so that hadn'tbothers bother either.
IVF #1 ET 1 d3 embryo 10/30/11 BFP
3 Embryos frozen (1 d5, 2 d6)
DS born 07/29/12
FET #1 ET 1 d5 embryo 02/10/15 BFN
FET #2 1 d6 embryo didn't survive thaw, transferred last d6. CP
my OB doesnt do U/S. I had a quick one at 12ish weeks because they couldn't find the heartbeat. It was on a portable machine.
I had to wait forever as well.
In my experience, the OB's office is very different than the RE.

Exactly this. After graduating, I had my NT and my a/s, and I have no more scheduled. The doppler has saved my sanity.
However, that being said, if you are unhappy with your OB, switch. Who cares how many times you switch OBs, you need to find one you are happy with. It's worth it. You are worth it.

Mine doesn't and I really never thought anything of it. One of their offices has an u/s machine, but it's old and the doctors have no clue how to use it really. Most appointments consist of bloodwork (if needed) a doppler check, and then just talking about how things are going, answering questions, etc.
I'm sent out for the NT Scan, the A/S, and another u/s at like 38 weeks to check for size.
