Cloth Diapering

Prefolds- always sopping wet

I'm very new at this so I'm not sure if this is what theyre supposed to do. I'll put one on her with a cover on top, and when I get her up from her nap the whole thing is sopping wet.  I feel bad that shes sitting in a totally wet cloth while she's asleep but she's a month old so she does a lot of sleeping!

  • You could try getting some fleece liners, that way the wetness wont be against her skin.

  • I used to worry that it was bad for LO's skin, but we've had less redness/rash since we added prefolds to our stash. Just make sure you change often like pp said. You can give her "naked time" to air out, too. :)

  • You can add boosters inside the diaper for extra absorbency if you are concerned.  When my little one was a newborn she was a really heavy wetter and would soak through a diaper in about an hour.

Also try and pat her dry during diaper changes, if you aren't already.  It will help avoid diaper rash.  :)

This!  My LO kept getting a red bottom from the wetness being against her skin.  We bought a bunch of fleece liners and they work great at keeping her feeling dry and no more redness.
