Ugh, thought I would try potty training this weekend, because DD has shown some readiness signs.......BIG FAT FAIL and by far the most frustrating thing I have ever done. I have mom friends whose kids are already potty trained, yet DD just doesn't seem to understand the concept or what I am saying at all.
I guess I feel like the "abnormal" one among all my mom friends, but after all the reading I have done, we seem to be "normal"??
Re: Anyone else's LO have ZERO interest in using the potty?
Yep. My DS is barely over 2, so we're in no hurry, but we ask all the time if he wants to sit on the potty and he gets super mad and yells NO. I thought for sure he'd want to sit on the little potty while my DD goes on the regular toilet but he wants no part of it.
So then I thought maybe he'll just go right to the insert on the regular toilet but that's worse.
If we try to just put him on the potty he kicks and screams and I'm not interested in scaring him and causing setbacks so we just let it be.
I hope it changes by the fall LOL.
Looking at your siggy it looks like she is not even 2? I don't think this is abnormal at all. Just because one kid trained before turning 2 doesn't mean your DD will. I tried at 25 months because it seemed like everyone was pushing me to (my Mom, MIL and SIL). Yeah it was a big.fat.fail. After months of cleaning poop out of panties x 2 every.single.day, I gave up and put them back in diapers. At 33 months one of my girls got up one day and said she wanted to wear panties and she did and had no accidents, she just up and decided to be trained one day and was. Her twin wanted panties as well about 3 days later, and again put them on and had little to no accidents. It was amazing, but the difference was they were really ready.
The average child (meaning 50% of the kids) don't train until they are 3 and are not completely trained (meaning doing it all by themselves including pooping on the potty) until they are 4 or older. We have had some issues this past year with regression in the one twin, but she now, 3 months from turning 4 is 100% trained, we have not had a single accident in over 3 weeks. And she does everything independently.
Your DD is not even 2 so I am sure she cannot pull her own pants up and down, so I wouldn't sweat it. Believe me it is so much easier when they are really ready and they do it by themselves. Takes all the stress out of it.
