Bummed about the scale! Bikram yoga? (sp?)

Hi ladies! I'm writing because I am a little bummed that here I am, 5 months post baby, and I am still 20 lbs above my pre pregnancy weight and have such bad belly flab. I do insanity workouts 4x a week, eat sensibly (I am an EPer), but I have not lost a pound in 1 month and I hate my belly flab. Any other suggestions as to what I can do, especially the belly area. I heard in a magazine somewhere that birkham yoga is really good for toning but which DVD? Thanks in advance!

Re: Bummed about the scale! Bikram yoga? (sp?)

  • Bikram yoga is really only practiced in a studio - the temperature is around 105 degrees.  I know there are DVDs or tapes you can get, but I think it would be pretty had to start out on your own, and you probably couldn't get your house hot or humid enough.  It is an amazing workout though.  I was addicted to it when I lived in Austin, TX, but there are not any studios nearby me now :(

I wish I had some other advice for you.  I didn't have trouble losing my baby weight and I EBFd.  I have heard that your body knows the difference between BFing and pumping, and it is easier to lose when BFing, but who knows.  Everyone is different.  Just keep eating clean and working out, and be proud of what you're doing for your baby.

  • I don't have a great deal of advice but I will say I lost the rest of my weight once I quite BF after the one year mark.  Like PP said, Bikram is practiced in a studio at 105 degrees.  It is an amazing workout for toning but I would think  it would be hard to practice at home.  Good luck!
