Well we were half successful

I've been wanting to attempt to nurse again so I tried tonight. I have pumped since about week three. She had problems suckling and latching. She took my left boob with no problem and sucked it dry! When I went to switch sides she threw a huge fit and would not latch. I think she wanted instant gratification and didn't want to work for the second side. I ended up pumping and giving the bottle. I'm excited to try again though!

  • That is great!  After returning to work, I have such a huge respect for EP'ers because all the cleaning of parts is a pain.  Keep trying and good luck!

  • Awesome! I had to stop at week 3 bc my daughter had latching/sucking problems and a milk allergy. I still wish I could have nursed her.

  • Good for you!  We switch between bottle and breast and sometimes LO will happily take breast first, other times he loses. his. mind. and we need to give bottle first.  Keep at it!

  • That is a BIG deal. When we started nursing we had to use the nipple shield. I was ecstatic when she nursed without it on one side. It took another few days to get her to latch without it on both, but it worked. Way to go, mama!

This is what I'm worried about. I have never given ds a bottle and just started pumping last week. I feel like everyone is pressuring me to give ds a bottle but I'm afraid he'll refuse my breast. The only reason I started pumping is so I'll have something to mix in with his cereal and baby food in a couple months. Anyways, that's awesome news! Keep at it :)
