My DH and I live far from our parents in a fairly small apartment, so we're skipping a lot of the "nice-to-haves." Ages ago, my parents told us they wanted to buy us the baby's crib - great! We landed a good deal on a stroller and car seat, so those are checked off, too. Well, six weeks out from the baby arriving, my MIL has told DH that they want to be able to give a biggish, special gift to baby, too. Great...but now I'm being asked what that special gift should be.
Ideas, mamas?
Re: Need a gift idea for ILs....
i agree with PP u can ask for a swing or combine the swing with a bouncy seat or a baby gym or a rock and play. or may be baby bedding set and a rug for nursery..depends on what u need the most .. if u cant decide may be u can tell your mother in law what is on ur priority list to buy for baby and then she can decide what she wants to get u depending on her budget and choice.
What about a glider chair? Certainly not a necessity, but it isn't something that you would necessarily buy for yourself and it might be nice to have especially if they want something expensive to buy.... I like the contribution to a college fund idea too although that may not give them the same satisfaction (if they are anything like my relatives)
Yeah, Tweets06, they may be similar; I like the college fund idea, too. I also suggested to DH that they could chip in for the washer and dryer we're going to be buying in a couple of weeks. He didn't think they would go for that either - which is fine. I think they want something we can point to and tell they baby they gave her.
Thanks for the chair idea!
What about a diaper service? If you are into using cloth diapers, most metro areas have cloth diapering services that cost the same as about a year of diapers (or a nice, new crib).
Plus, it will be so convenient for you and not take up any unnecessary space.
