I haven't been to see LO's Pedi yet but my best friend has a daughter that just turned one, and goes to the same Pedi. He told her no more bottle, no more formula, and no more juice. Ok, I knew most of that was coming (the juice I was surprised at, like even watered down juice he does not want). I have her down mostly to one bottle before bed and I can tell it's going to be hell getting her off that. My problem is that she will not drink her milk from the sippy cup but if I pour it in the bottle she will drink it out of that (meaning, it's not a matter of taste). She drinks water fine out of the cup but I'm sorried that she isn't getting enough milk. Does any one else's baby do this?
Re: no more bottle
Your pedi seems a little nuts. No bottle, no juice? A lot of babies take a little longer to get off the bottles completely.. I'm not sure why it's so imperative to force it so quickly. The juice issue is just weird, I'm not a fan of giving the extra sugar, but a lot of parents give juice to their LO's. I would think that'd be more of a parenting choice than orders from a Pediatrician.
It sounds like you've done fine weaning down the bottles, Idk if I would want to just cut out that last bottle right away just because the pediatrician says so. I say take your time, and if you feel like you want to give your LO juice that should be up to you as well.
My LO hates the sippy cup, it's more of a toy to her at this point.
Good luck with everything.

My pedi said ideally they want them off the bottle by a year...he said lets try for it. However, he completely understands if it isn't working.
Luckily, my daughter is really adaptable--there has been times where we left a bottle at home and she has had to have the formula out of the sippy cup--and she had no problem going with that. (She does drink less out of the sippy cup than the bottle though--I think it is because all of hers are training ones still and probably needs a faster flow.)
Actually this weekend, we cut out all the bottles except the bedtime one. I think next weekend we will try to eliminate that.
But she has been also playing around/experimenting with the sippy cup since about 6 months or so--so it is extremely familiar to her. Around 8 months she really started to figure out how to drink out of it.
Meh. I wouldn't worry about it. I'd say down to one bottle a day is pretty good. I'd just work it away gradually.
My 9 month old is still addicted to her bottle and drinks a ton in a day out of it. My pedi told me I had to stop. I'm not buying it just yet. She's still little, not the best solid eater and hey, every baby has their comfort vice.
I know it'll be hell when she's one but I'll fight it then and while I don't want a toddler with a bottle, I'll work it away slowly.
